This book covers the history of the establishment of the Yeshivot in Lithuania and White Russia until the end of the Second World War. It includes the following yeshivot: Volozhin, Mirrer Yeshiva, Slabodka, Radun, Telz, Lomza, Kleck, Novardok, Slonim, Grodno, Kamenitz, Kobrin, and Baranovitz. The book also depicts the important personalities such as the Gaon of Vilna, Rabbi Israel Salanter,Rabbi Israel Meir Kagan, Rabbi Joseph Yehudah Bloch, and Rabbi Nathan Zvi Finkel who had an impact on the yeshiva world.
The author, Dr. Lester Eckman is a Holocaust survivor, a holder of seven academic degrees, author of nine major books, teacher, lecturer and professor at Touro college. Dr. Eckman is founder and president of the Judaic Research Institute for Reseach and Publication of Works dealing with Judaica, ethics and the Holocaust.
